In the combustion chamber of a boiler, natural gas is burnt to produce heat. The hot flue gases from the combustion process pass through a heat exchanger where the heat is transferred from the hot flue gases to the water that flows inside the heat exchanger. The heated water is then pumped through to heat your home and domestic hot water. In condensing (high-efficiency) boilers a second, or larger primary, heat exchanger removes even more of the heat from the flue gases. This pre-warms the water coming back into the boiler, so you burn less gas to heat the water up, making it more efficient. Because the flue gas loses more of its heat to the secondary heat exchanger the gases condense, hence the name condensing boiler.
New boilers can be up to 98% efficient, which means that 98% of the heat the boiler produces is transferred to the water. Replacing an older boiler, which are typically 65% efficient, could save you up to 40% on your utility bill.

Radiant heating is the ultimate in home comfort. The water is heated by a boiler and then circulated through pipes in your floor or to hydronic radiators. As the water radiates heat to the room, the water travels back to the boiler to be reheated. Rooms or zones, can be independently heated to conserve energy. If you suffer from allergies or respiratory problems, you’ll find some relief from your symptoms with hydronic radiant heating because there’s no forced air movement to blow dust and allergens around. Hydronic radiant heating, both in-floor and with the use of wall panel or baseboard radiators, is more energy efficient than forced air (furnaces) and more cost effective than electric radiant heating systems.
